Main Insect/Pest Information Page > Bed Bugs
“Good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite.” You’ve heard the saying but never thought for a moment that it would be an issue today. This pest is becoming disturbingly more common.
The source of infestations is simple to identify:
• International travel
• Hotels
• Luggage
• College dorms
The first step to control is proper identification. If you have a doubt, call an expert.
Here at Trius Pest Management, we offer “free” inspections for our current clients and a small fee for others, which of course can be applied to the cost of service if required. We also have available “bed bug monitoring units". You can test for activity before you treat.
Besides a comprehensive program of services for bed bugs, we have available products that are most useful. Mattress covers and Luggage Material
Let’s be specific…
Mattress covers: Be really clear here, you need to purchase the correct brand. The key to a good cover is the integrity of the seam. Only the best work.
We have materials you use to treat your luggage preventively. Travel, staying in hotels, and “bringing them home” is a common source of infestations.
If service is required, we strongly suggest a three (3) step process
about ten (10) days apart. This is important due to egg hatching periods.
Preparation is the key to proper service.
Lets be clear here. Bed bugs are back, they are becoming increasingly more common and they are perceived with disgust.
The limited good news is that bed bugs do not typically transmit diseases that we need to be concerned about. The bad news is that as part of their reproductive cycle, they require a blood meal. That is why they bite.
