NEW JERSEY INSECT/PEST INFORMATION

Main Insect/Pest Information Page > Silver Fish

Silverfish are small wingless insects, less than ½" long, the name describes the silvery blue color and the fish like appearance of its movements. Silverfish eat carbohydrates and their favorite food is paper; those cardboard boxes that have been stored in the attic for decades will keep them well fed. They are often found in sinks and bathtubs and customers think that they are coming from the drains, this is not the case, they often fall into the sink or the tub and are unable to crawl out on the slick surface.
In most cases, we focus our treatment in the attic to control them at the source. We have a variety of low toxicity and also non toxic products to treat these common pests.
