NEW JERSEY INSECT/PEST INFORMATION

Main Insect/Pest Information Page > Weevils (Pantry Moths)

What we are referring to here are the moths coming out of you kitchen cabinets and cream colored worms crawling up the walls, or a variety of small beetles/ weevils found in grain products. Again, not really a pest control issue.

These creatures are of several different varieties, but the source and result is similar with them all.

They are in the food you bring into your home (yes, you eat them), and are most common in “natural” less processed foods. Examples would be whole wheat flour, nuts, and dry pet food.

What happens is, you put something away, forget it’s there, and over time with the right conditions the very teeny critters grow into a problem.

Finding the sources (it will be obvious) and a good pantry cleaning (all the cracks and crevices). P.S You have to throw out the food you found infested.
